Description

Inspired by the awesomeness of Run at the Rock in December, we created the Cedarock Trail Run, a super-fun and very social springtime event where solo racers and relay teams will battle it out on four, unique 5Kish loop courses.  Challenge yourself to run 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon solo or grab a friend (or two or three) to form a half marathon relay team.  Cedarock Park is located in Burlington, NC and is an easy drive from Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. We’re going to have a blast in May and hope to see you there.

Race Courses

This race course is comprised of four unique, 5K+ loop courses, Loop A, B, C, and D.  Each loop starts with .3 - 1.1 miles of wide road, paved trail, or grassy fields before hitting the trails.  After this beginning section, athletes run along a combination of forested single-track and wide equestrian trails.  Perfect for separating the starting field of runners, Loop A starts with 1.1 miles of pavement, open fields, and wide trail, followed by single-track.  Loop B is primarily single-track and Loop C and D are mostly equestrian trails.  The Loops will be marked clearly and course marshals will be positioned at critical spots along the way.  There are plenty of passing opportunities spread throughout.  We would categorize these trails as minimally technical, with some root and rock filled sections and several punchy hill climbs.  In terms of elevation gain, Loop A, B, C, and D have 226', 174', 267', and 222' of gain, respectively.

The Deets - Relay Teams (Fun with Friends!)

Adventures are more fun with friends so gather some friends and enter the Half Marathon Relay.  Your two to four member relay team will complete all four loops of the half marathon course.  Each team member will complete at least one loop of the course and teams can choose the runner that will complete each loop.  Each member of a relay team will have the same numbered bib and each team will be provided with a timing chipped baton.  After completing each loop of the race, relay racers will pass the chipped baton to the 'on-deck' racer, who will be waiting in the staging area.  Competing on a relay team is a super-fun way to race with friends.   Relay team divisions are Male, Female, and Mixed.

If you are the first person to register for your team, you will create the team.  After that, the rest of the team members will join the team during registration.

Awards, Giveaways, Age Groups, and Relay Divisions

Solo age groups for each distance (5K, 10K, and Half Marathon): 13-Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

Half Marathon Relay Divisions:  Male, Female, and Mixed (at least one team member of the opposite gender).

Prizes and awards will be presented to the top five overall M/F solo competitors in each distance.

Awards will be presented to the top three M/F solo competitors in each age group in each distance and to the top three half marathon relay teams in each division.

We will randomly select winners of some great giveaways – includes gift certificates, running gear, and Roadless Races merchandise.  Racers and volunteers are eligible to win.

FREE Kids Race for Treasure

At 10:15am, kids 11-under are invited to participate in the FREE Kids Race for Treasure.  All kids are welcome to participate and parents are encouraged to line the race course to cheer them on.  We will match kids in age groups (3-U, 4-5, 6-7, and 8-11) and start each group separately on a short out and back ‘race course’ in the large field near the staging area.  After running, kids can grab a prize (toys from the dollar store:) from the Treasure Chest!
