NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon

THE RACE

Scheduled for April 28th 2024, the iconic route starts in hip North Brooklyn and winds around the waterfront taking you under the historic Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Brooklyn Bridges while delivering eye popping views of Manhattan.

From there, the route heads up the historic concourses of Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue before passing through Grand Army Plaza and into fabled brownstone Brooklyn before finishing in Prospect Park.

THE COURSE

The USATF-certified course will be electronically timed using the MYLAPS Bibtag system. There will be timing (split) points and clocks throughout the course. Water, Lemon Lime Nuun Endurance, and restrooms will be available approximately every 1 - 2 miles. Medical support will be available throughout the course.

PACER GROUPS

The Prospect Park Track Club will be providing pacers for runners looking to run a pace of 1:30 to 3:00. Pacers will be wearing white singlets with PACER and the event graffiti logo on it, and holding a sign with the pace time they will be running. The wave and corral plan for pacers is as follows:

1:30 pace - Wave 1, Corral A

1:35 pace - Wave 1, Corral A

1:40 pace - Wave 1, Corral B

1:45 pace - Wave 1, Corral D

1:50 pace - Wave 1, Corral F

1:55 pace - Wave 2, Corral B

2:00 pace - Wave 2, Corral C

2:05 pace - Wave 2, Corral F

2:10 pace - Wave 3, Corral B

2:15 pace - Wave 3, Corral D

2:20 pace - Wave 4, Corral A

2:25 pace - Wave 4, Corral B

2:30 pace - Wave 4, Corral C

2:40 pace - Wave 4, Corral D

2:50 pace - Wave 4, Corral E

3:00 pace - Wave 4, Corral F

Runners cannot move up in a Wave or a Corral, but can move back.

As you pass through the finish line, you'll receive bottled Smartwater, fresh Brooklyn bagels (with a shmear of course), NYS apples and more!

Your friends and family can track you during the race using the FREE NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon App which you can download at the Apple App Store or Google Play. It's chock full of other cool tools like a course map, race info, social sharing, and more.

You will receive an email from MarathonFoto several days after the race with information about how to purchase photos of you along the course (and at the finish!), or you can order them now by reaching out to us today.

Bag check will be available at the Expo only. There will be no race day bag check. If you plan on checking a bag, you must use the single clear bag provided by NYCRUNS. You may not put another full bag/backpack/briefcase inside the clear bag. All items must fit inside the clear bag. NYCRUNS reserves the right to search your bag at any time. Bags will be available to pickup in Prospect Park at approximately 8:30 AM.

*In order to cut down on waste, we avoid ordering more than we need; thus, sizes are not guaranteed.

BIB & SHIRT MAILING

This is no longer available. You must go to the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon Expo to pick up your bib if you did not previously purchase this service.

EXPO

You must pick up your race bib and t-shirt at the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon Expo unless you signed up as a VIP or for bib & shirt mailing (no longer available.) Bib pickup will not be available on race morning, and you may not run without a bib.

FINISH LINE ACCESS

The finish line and festival area at the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon are secure zones. Finish Line Access Passes are the only way for family members and friends to join you for your finish and hang out at the festival with you. You can purchase Finish Line Access Passes online here and they must be picked up at the Expo.

RESULTS, PRIZE MONEY, AWARDS, & ELITE ENTRY

Results will be emailed and the full results will be posted on our results page after the race. If you do not see your result online or receive an email with your finish time, please fill out this form.

Awards will be given to the top three overall male, female and non-binary finishers (by gun time) as well as the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers in each of the following age groups (by net time): 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 and over.

Prize money is offered to the top 10 finishers (by gun time) in each of the three gender divisions. Athletes who meet the following criteria will be eligible for prize money:  Men - 1:10:00 or faster; Women - 1:20 or faster; Non-Binary/Gender Non-Conforming - 1:20 or faster. You must have competed only in your registered gender and your gender must not have been changed on your NYCRUNS profile in the 90 days prior to the event.

Athletes may be subject to drug testing and other validation as deemed necessary to ensure a fair and equal field.

Prize money will be distributed as follows:

First Place: $2,500
Second Place: $1,250
Third Place: $750
Fourth Place: $500
Fifth Place: $250
Sixth - Tenth Place: $100

Qualified elite athletes will be automatically granted complimentary entry and entrance to the elite corral if they meet the following standards which may be revised before the program is open:

Women: Between 1/1/2023 and 2/28/2024, you must have run a time below 1:20 in a half marathon. The qualifying course must be certified and the results verifiable. Your gender for the qualifying race must match your gender choice for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Men: Between 1/1/2023 and 2/28/2025, you must have run a time below 1:10 in a half marathon. The qualifying course must be certified and the results verifiable. Your gender for the qualifying race must match your gender choice for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Non-Binary/Gender Non-Conforming: Between 1/1/2023 and 2/28/2024, you must have run a time below 1:20 in a half marathon. The qualifying course must be certified and the results verifiable. Your gender for the qualifying race must match your gender choice for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Should you not have been able to register as NB/GNC for a given race, please supply a broader history indicating you have been competing as NB/GNC where possible.

DIRECTIONS

Please take public transportation if possible. The L train to Bedford Avenue and G train to Metropolitan Avenue are closest to the start. Please check mta.info for the most up to date information on public transportation.

Driving is not recommended due to limited street parking and the point to point nature of the course.

POLICIES

The standard no-refunds, no-transfers policy applies. Withdrawals for race credit are only applicable to those signed up for the NYCRUNS Membership Program.

All participants must pass through a magnetometer (metal detector) to enter the corrals. You will need to show your bib. Bags, blankets, hydration packs, camelbacks, backpacks, or over-the-shoulder hydration vests are strictly prohibited, and runners will not be able to enter the start area with them. Runners will be permitted to enter the start area and run with hydration/fuel belts and handheld water bottles of one (1) liter or less.

Strollers and dogs are not allowed in NYCRUNS races.

You may be disqualified if earbuds or headphones hinder your awareness.

The finish line will close at 12:30 PM and runners who do not cross the finish line prior to then will not be recorded as official finishers and may not receive full on-course support and amenities. A sweep vehicle will follow behind the last runners and will provide transportation to the finish for participants who so chose. Runners who wish to continue running after the sweep vehicle passes will be directed to the sidewalks by a race marshal.
