Strides for Adam 5K
Riverview, MI
Wayne County
Mar 24, 2024 - Sunday
5K run
  • Details from event's RunSignUp.com listing:

Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED.

On Dec 26, 2018 this unfortunate statistic affected Adam Holten, his family, extended family, friends and the community. We lost a very good person to suicide. Adam affected many people’s lives with his presence, his smile, his laughter, his handshakes and his ability to reach out and lift other people up.

Since his passing we have created a non profit organization: Strides for Adam. This is our 5th year hosting a 5K race to continue his legacy of service to others and keep his memory alive.

Join us In-person in 2024 for the 5th annual Strides for Adam 5k run, walk and 1 mile reflection walk. We are also offering a virtual event for those that are unable to participate in-person.

Finisher medals and available sized t-shirts to the first 500 people. This years medal is in the shape of a honeycomb, with the race colors of black and yellow. The reason for the race colors, the honeycomb, the 16 bees running with the picture of Adam in the sunlight… it all has significance. Adam was 16 when he left us and he was fascinated by bees. We like the symbol of bees because they symbolize a community working together. This race, this event is not just any race, it is done to honor someone that served others. With your support and the support of sponsors and volunteers, we support high school graduates moving on to start their education towards a career in service to others.
