    SATURDAY. MAY 18, 2024.  The SoCal Pirate's 5K/10K |  Lot 25 BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH

    8:30 am MASS START for both 5k/10K   Kid's Dash 8:00 am

    Be a part of the largest gathering of PIRATE's atmosphere in SO CAL. Ships Ahoy, the pirates have landed in Huntington Beach. A larger beach area for a larger pirate invasion at Bolsa Chica State Beach.  The "Every Body" Pirate's run is themed throughout the course! Hidden treasures along the way.  Make it a party or come to just run fast.  It is a FLAT n FAST PAVED COURSE along the beach.

    LOCATION:  BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH is just West of the City of Huntington Beach on Pacific Coast Hwy. Lot 25 is nearest Warner & PCH and is the last lot. Park in Sunset Beach and walk in or enter through Bolsa Chica State Beach's main gate and proceed west to the last lot once inside the gate. 

    COURSE: A great paved path with ocean views!  Flat and fast and wide enough for strollers, walkers, and dogs on leashes to stay to the right.

      1835 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92627      (You can pick up for others. No ID required)

    Race Day Schedule:

    6:30 am Vendors arrive and set up.
                   Volunteers arrive and check-in
    7:00 am-8:20  Registration OPEN
                    Shirts and bibs are available for pick up on race day 

                    Captain Jack LIVE will be there to thoroughly entertain you.

    8:15 Little Pirate's KID's DASH.  1/2 mile   Pirate's style warm-up

    8:30 AM - Start for 10K Run/ Start of 5K Run/Walk
    9:30 AM - Awards  5K Awards followed by 10K

    PARKING:

    PARKING at BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH is $20 in the summer. UNLESS you help pick up trash. It's Free.  We will be making arrangements for you to sign up for free parking and pick up a bag of trash at the beach before you leave! . You may wish to carpool. To enter into BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH go in the main gate on PCH and drive the furthest EAST to the very last parking lot. (Lot 25) The race is staged in view of that famous Jack In the Box on the corner of Warner and PCH. Parking is free to the west behind that Jack in the Box.  Or there is also metered parking.  Do not park in the shopping center or gas station.

    Restrooms will be opened on each end of lot 25 for event use. 

    What's happening ON STAGE:

    7:30 to 8:00 Upstream Band playing
    8:00 to 8:10 Jack Sparrow Pirate demos fencing and entertains the crowd
    8:10 to 8:20 Pirate's music will get you pumped.
    8:20-8:25 Jack Sparrow leads a Pirate's Warm Up you won't want to miss!
    8:25 Mass crowd picture with banner & Caren Ware announces what the proceeds of race benefit. 

    8:30 START  and 9:30 am awards.  Take great selfies at the selfie booth and with Jack Sparrow and remember to #carenwareevents.com

    Caren Ware adopted a village in Nepal, the Himalayas near Everest Basecamp while running the Everest Marathon at 18,000.  Proceeds from the races benefit ALL kinds of needs she RAN into while running a remote marathon on every continent.   And get ready to read the newly released book...FINDING FIT!  Signed copies will be available at the race.  Books can be purchased.

    FAQ

    Pets: Friendly Pets are allowed and must be leashed at all times and accompanied by a Run /Walk participant. 

    Stroller: Families can bring strollers, but agree to use them at their own risk.  Stay to your right.  

    Note, that only registered participants with a BIB will receive a finisher medal. Please make sure your BIB is in the front and visible to the finish line crew.

    Also, note that the open public uses this path.  There will be cyclists and other runners and walkers. 

    Race will take place rain or shine or shipwrecked!  Atlas, ye mattes, let's run.
