One of the most popular events at the Morton Pumpkin Festival is our Pumpkin Classic Run & Walk, sponsored by LIBBY’S® Pumpkin.

The 2-mile event is now officially an untimed fun run/walk and kicks off just ahead of the 10K runners. We will begin the festivities at 7:00am and send off the 2-milers at 7:15am, followed by the 10k runners at 7:30am. This will allow for less congestion throughout the race, at the split, and most importantly at the finish line! The flat course runs through town to the outskirts of Morton and then finishes on Jefferson Street, in the heart of the Pumpkin Festival.

The 2-mile fun run/walk welcomes old, young, short, tall, strollers, and wheelchairs.  No roller blades or dogs allowed in either event.

After the race, participants are invited to join us at the Post Race Party for beverages, snacks, our famous pumpkin donuts, music, and a fun area to hang out with fellow racers and family members. There will be an awards ceremony at approximately 9:00am. Don't forget your bib has a "tear off coupon" for a FREE breakfast at the Pumpkin Pancake & Sausage Breakfast at the main food tent right after the race!

    Awards
    * All 10K finishers will receive a pumpkin finisher’s medal
    * Top overall winner for the 10K Men's and Women's Divisions will receive $50 in Morton Chamber Checks.
    * The Top 3 Men and Women in each age group (10K) receive a pumpkin pie! Age Groups are as follows: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
    * The 2-mile FUN Run/Walk does not have any prizes, but includes the post-race party and the Pumpkin Pancake & Sausage breakfast!

    PARTICIPANT INFO!

(This was sent out via e-mail on September 15, 2023)

    Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up is Friday, September 15 from 5pm - 7pm at the Lincoln Elementary School Gym (100 South Nebraska, Morton).

NEW THIS YEAR: bibs are assigned dynamically, which means you do not need to find your bib alphabetically at packet pick-up. Follow the “start here” signs and you will be assigned a bib by a volunteer who will prompt you along to get your pins and shirt.

Reminder - you are committed to the shirt size you requested at registration.

For those who can't make Friday pick-up, there will be limited packet pick-up race morning beginning at 6am in the public parking lot by the starting line (on 1st Street).

Bring your old running shoes to packet pick-up.

Morton HS student Nicholas Delgado is partnering with “Got Sneakers?” to raise funds for the Morton Cross Country team. The shoes will either be donated or (if they are too worn) they will be recycled into playground chips. The shoes must be tied together and donated as a pair, they must be at least 4.5 inches long and only sneakers are accepted.

    Race Morning

7:00am: National anthem and pre-race announcements

    7:15am: 2 mile untimed run/walk start

    7:30am: 10K run start

Because our race-course turns into a parade route, 10K runners must be able to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace. If you are moving slower than this pace, you are responsible for yourself and course support will NOT be available. Please be aware of your surroundings.

    No dogs, please.

Strollers are fine as long as you are respectful of other runners and can maintain the minimum pace per mile.

Course maps with water stations and mile markers are available at this link: Race Maps!

    Race Finish

All 10K runners will receive a medal at the finish.

All 10K and 2 mile participants are invited to participate in the post-race party sponsored by Morton Buildings. We will have water, fruit, granola bars and pumpkin donuts. Additionally, all participants have tear-off tags on their bibs for the pumpkin pancake and sausage breakfast at the main food tent. We know the line is long. It’s not in our circle of control :)

    Awards

Overall top finisher (M/W) receive a Chamber Check; top three in each age group receive a pumpkin pie. Awards will begin around 9AM by the post-race party tent. You must be present to collect your award.

    Volunteers

Everyone involved, from water stations to the emcee, is a volunteer. We want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to the folks who give their time and energy. We all work hard to make the Pumpkin Classic happen, and hope that you find some joy out on the course. If you have feedback, we welcome it in our post-race survey. If you find you have lots of feedback, please consider volunteering!

For the love of all that is good and moisture wicking...

Though we try to be accurate and on top of things... Race details can change when we aren't lookin. And once in a while we simply make a mistake.
