    Join us on Saturday, September 16, 2023 for the 27th Annual Great River Bridge Race! Experience the energy of one of the greatest events in Burlington that brings our community together. This event offers multiple options to give everyone an opportunity to cross the Great River Bridge on foot, regardless of skill level. All race proceeds benefit the Burlington Parks and Recreation Department, so YOU will help create a lasting impact for everyone in our community. Don't miss this opportunity to capture the breathtaking views of the Mighty Mississippi, as the Great River Bridge is typically closed to pedestrians! The 10k and 5k will both be timed and scored by J3 Timing.  Results will be posted on the J3 website

    Event Options:
    • 10k: 9:00 AM, $35
    • 5k: 9:00 AM, $35
    • Bridge Walk: 10:00 AM $25 - This 1.5 mile walk is perfect for people who aren't looking for the intense race atmosphere, but still want to experience the excitement. The Bridge Walk will not be timed.

    This event begins and finishes at the Port of Burlington (400 N. Front Street, Burlington, IA 52601).
    2023 Race Proceeds
    The 2023 Great River Bridge Race proceeds will support the Dankwardt Park Playground Project.  This project will completely redo the existing deteriorating playground with a new fully accessible large-scale playground. The design and elements will make this playground a destination playground! It will include inclusive play structures, accessible play elements, and improved site amenities for all ages and abilities. This playground will be unique in the community and the entire Southeast Iowa region.
