Road Warriors is a non-profit organization based out of Axtell, NE. In the past SIX YEARS, Axtell Road Warriors has had the pleasure of working with junior high and high school students participating in local Cross Country and Track Programs. Our mission is to encourage students to stay active in the summer months by offering incentives for reaching mileage goals. The biggest incentive is taking the students to get measured and fitted for NEW running shoes. While the students have been responsible for a portion of the cost of new shoes, Road Warriors was able to help cover up to 25% of the sticker price of those shoes. This year it was able to cover between 25-100% of the cost for eligible students, not just in Axtell, but several surrounding communities.

On September 30, 2023, Road Warriors will be partnering with Thunderhead’s Oktoberfest to help raise money by hosting a 5K run and 2-mile walk. The funds raised (after covering costs associated with hosting the race) for this *TIMED NOT CHIPPED* event will be used to provide transportation for cross country athletes to get shoes fitted, as well as new shoes for eligible students. The race will start and end at Thunderhead’s Axtell taproom and offer all of our registered finishers a race day shirt (guaranteed if registered BEFORE 9/16/23) and post-race drink (with or without alcohol) at Oktoberfest, which will also include a live band, corn hole competition, home brew competition, pizza and pretzels. Lost Way, Upper Room, and First Street Breweries will be pouring along with Thunderhead.   

Medals have their perks but this is an Oktoberfest 5K AT A BREWERY!! Top Male and Female finishers overall and in the below age groups will receive a Beerstein designed especially for this event! Cheers!
