DESCRIPTION

Grab your ruby slippers and running shoes or hop on your broom, and join us for the Race to Oz 5K fun run in Ionia, Michigan!  Starting and ending on the Fred Meijer Trail at Steele Street in downtown Ionia, this magical fun run will transport you from the streets of Ionia to somewhere over the rainbow. After the run, stick around and celebrate the Wizard of Oz festival with official Character Meet and Greets, Celebrity Guests, Glinda’s tea party, or visit one of our many vendors. See the movie that started it all at the historic Ionia Theatre. Tickets are only 25 cents each, same price as they were 80 years ago!

Participants of the 5K fun run will receive a one of a kind event shirt, race bib, and the opportunity to have photos taken with official Wizard of Oz festival characters at the finish line!  

Awards:

5 year age category increments! Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female in the 5K. Age category awards will be given for the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+

We will have a professional photographer on site. All photographs are free to download!

FAQ:

1. Are strollers allowed on course?

   Yes! Please feel free to take your little one/s along for the run. 

2. Is this a pet friendly event?

    Absolutely! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed on the race course. 

3. Can I walk the race?

     Of course! This is a family oriented event with a great mix of walkers and runners.

5.   Will the race be canceled if the weather is bad?

       We will run rain or shine, wet or dry! Only in the event of severe weather including lightning will we be forced to postpone the start or cancel depending on the severity of the weather.
