Sept 7 Update Regarding Finisher Medals:

    Hello Friends!

On behalf of the Swanton Family and this tremendous cause, we can’t thank you enough for the outstanding support again this year! We are looking forward to having you with us for another joyous celebration of Sloane this weekend.

We wanted to reach out to you with a quick update for our finisher medals - we initially placed an order for 500 medals about two months ago when we were around 300 signups with the hope that we could get to 500 participants by race day. We have been humbled with the outpouring of support of the last several weeks and have seen another 200+ signups in the last three weeks alone! Likewise, we have reached over 550 signups as of today.

After some discussion and in the hopes to have as many people on-hand at Genoa Park on Sunday to share in the race day experience with us, we have opened up another 100 spots for signups and placed another order for 100 finisher medals. That being said, our first 500 medals will be on-hand for the race, but our second order of 100 medals isn’t scheduled to arrive until after race day. Thus, we are planning to give out our 500 finisher medals to all of the kids fun run participants on Sunday, as well as the first 400 or so finishers to cross the finish line (until we run out) in the 5K. If you are not part of that first 400 or so finishers in the 5K we will still make sure to get you your medal! Once our second order comes in, we will reach out to all finishers via email who did not get a medal and coordinate the best way to have your medal delivered to you. If you are a virtual participant, we will mail you your medal or you can pick it up at early packet pickup (starting on Friday at Columbus Running Company in Westerville).

Thank you so much for your understanding! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Sarah Swanton via email at sarah@onbravewings.org. We will be in touch on race day as well with these details, but wanted to give everyone a heads up before Sunday. Thank you so much for your support and understanding, and we look forward to seeing you this weekend!

    -The Swanton Family

Sign up today for the 2nd Annual Sloane Swanton Research Run! This is a 5K run/walk that will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at our NEW LOCATION in downtown Columbus at Genoa Park (303 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215)! Why the location switch? Simply put, we outgrew last year's location at the Westerville Sports Complex due to the number of participants in our race, so we needed to look for a venue that could hold more runners and walkers! Likewise, we are very excited about the long-term future of our event and for the ability to grow in our new downtown environment. Thank you so much for your continued support, and we hope that you will join us again this September for another wonderful event! In addition to the new location, we have also added a Kids Fun Run to race day morning! The Kids Fun Run will take place at 8:45 am (15 minutes prior to the start of the 5K) and is approximately 100 meters long and untimed (just for fun!). We are also excited to offer a virtual 5K option for those who cannot attend on race day but would still like to support Pediatric Chordoma Research. Click the "Sign Up" button below to head over to the race website for more information. We hope to see you in September!

    Sloane's Story

On May 26, 2021, the Swanton family's lives changed forever. Their youngest daughter, Sloane, was diagnosed with a 1 in a million brain tumor called a Pediatric Clival Chordoma. There is no treatment protocol for chordoma, especially in children. Sloane underwent 2 brain surgeries, 3 rounds of chemotherapy and was placed on a ventilator twice. The tumor started responding to chemo and Sloane regained her ability to move on her own, to breathe on her own and to even begin acting like a toddler again. Unfortunately though, the tumor stopped responding and started to grow despite all of the medical interventions she received. Sloane lost her battle to chordoma on September 14, 2021 at only 18 months old. Please join us in raising money to support Pediatric Chordoma Research through the Sloane Swanton 5K Research Run. Every dollar raised will help us move closer to finding a way to treat pediatric chordoma and develop new chemotherapy drugs to target those specific tumor cells. Her fight is our fight now, her legacy is to help other children beat this horrible disease.
