Looking for some Pre Halloween Fun? Come join us for the Inaugural Two Trees Challenge.
What is the Challenge?- Come and run either by yourself, or on a relay team up and over Two Trees for 12, 6, or 3 hours.
What are the Two Trees? Any Ventura local can tell you that the Two Trees have quite the history in the area and are known as a local icon. (Although lately they don't look too healthy due to fires and the ongoing mega drought) The ever present over seers of Ventura, the trees are typically off limits due to private property. This is your chance to legally get up there (several times actually) and take in the views of Ventura and the Oxnard plain, the Ventura Coast and the beautiful Channel Islands.
What do you mean 12hrs? Well, we mean just that. Run individually or as a relay team for 12hrs straight.
Not up for the full 12 hours? No worries, we got you covered with a 6hr and 3hr option. Everything works the same as below. Bring a team or try it as an individual and test your strength.
How does it work?
- As an Individual- If you are doing this by your lonesome you simply need to complete as many laps as you can within the 12/6/3 hour limit. Rest as little or as much as you want at your pre determined transition area. Remember to refuel, keep going, or take a break, the choice is yours. Each time you pass through the Start/Finish area, notate your departure time for that lap. Those with the most laps at the end win!!!
- As a relay- If you are bringing a team of 2 or 4 you will send one runner at a time to complete a lap. Similar to the Individuals above.... your team simply need to complete as many laps as you can within the 12/6/3 hour limit. Rest as little or as much as you want at your pre determined transition area. Runners are welcome to do multiple laps in a row or alternate in a sequence your team decides will give you the best strategy. Pass the "baton" in your transition area when a new teammate heads out on course. Each time a teammate passes through the Start/Finish area, notate your departure time for that lap. The team with the most laps at the end win!!!
The route is approximately 4 miles long with tough elevation and exposed ridgelines. It's going to be epic!
