Gap2Gap MultiSport Relay Race

Come experience Central Washington's original Multisport Relay! The Gap2Gap has been an unrivaled racing experience on the Yakima River Greenway for forty years! Enjoy Great Yakima weather and great competition. Our race takes place on the Fast, Flowing Yakima River, the open roads of Hop Country, beautiful Shrub Steppe hills and the Jewel of it all, The Yakima Greenway, a 20 mile continuous pathway following the Yakima and Naches Rivers. The Race headquarters at Sarg Hubbard Park and the Yakima Greenway Visitor Center is the perfect place for the Start, Finish and Festivities. Take on our course solo in our Iron division or bring your friends for a fun and competitive day of racing.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

The Gap2Gap is a five leg, multi discipline race that can be completed with a team of two to four or solo in the Iron division. The race starts and finishes at Sarg Hubbard Park in Yakima Washington.

  • 1 Mile Field Run: Teams are eligible to use any team member to complete this run. The run is a mixed surface run with potential for conditions ranging from loose sand to waist deep water. This is a challenging run through Sarg Hubbard Park and Riparian Trails.
  • 6.5 Mile Kayak: Yakima river kayaking at its best! This is a fast course with spring flows, Boaters will challenge themselves to keep the pace of the pack while navigating the river. River kayaking experience is greatly encouraged. The Yakima is a swift river with multiple channels, all boaters are responsible for their own safety. (PFD and Whistle are required) (Kayaks, Canoes, SUPs are all eligible.)
  • 18 Mile Road Bike: Time Trial Format (No Drafting) The course starts at river level and gradually climbs over the 18 miles. This is a fast course but can be challenging due to its elevation gain. (Road bike/Time Trial/gravel bike and helmet are required. Rules of the Road apply)
  • 8.5 Mile Mountain Bike: The course is a mix of Single-track, Double-track and gravel road. Riders will experience a fast course that is gradually back downhill to the river. (Mountain or Gravel Bike with a helmet is required). In years past Gravel bikes have been popular, with the extension of the single-track section Gravel bikes should only be ridden by advanced riders.
  • 4.5 Mile Run: The Yakima Greenway, flat and fast if you have anything left to give! The course follows the Yakima River by way of the Greenway the run finishes with the crowd favorite Slip N Slide into the finish line!

An interactive course map is available on our website and additional day of logistics and information will be sent to participants as we approach race day.
