THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FROM the 2022 DeRailed Adventure.  THE UPDATED COURSE INFORMATION FOR 2023 WILL BE AVAILABLE by JAN 1st 2023.

This is an adventure style race with multiple disciplines including running, biking, a water event and mystery challenges.

Total run/jog/walk distance is approximately 6.3 miles. Total biking distance is approximately 6.7 miles.

The course includes running on hard surfaces and a mowed grass trail.  Biking will be mostly on a paved recreational trail with a few hundred feet of gravel.  The water event is approximately 100-200 feet in length. It is not swimming, but you and your shoes will get wet. You will be required to wear an approved life jacket provided by race officials.  Mystery events may be physical or mental.

This is a mostly self-supported event, especially related to hydration and personal needs.

1.  Participants must be able to carry water on their person and/or on their bike.  Water is available to refill containers at pre-race/finish (Wapsi Great Western Line (WGWL) Trailhead in Riceville), at start, at McIntire City Park (the transition area from run to bike) and at Lake Hendricks.
2.  Restroom facilities are available at pre-race/finish, the start, McIntire City Park, and Lake Hendricks.

Participants will leave bikes at Lake Hendricks to complete the water event and remainder of the race. Race personnel will remain with the bikes until they are picked up or 11:50, whichever is earlier.

First, second and third place awards for men and women.  This is a timed event.  Participants must arrive for the water event at Lake Hendricks before 10:45 in order to continue the race.  You have two hours and 20 minutes to officially finish and receive a finisher’s medal.  Those finishing in over two hours and 30 minutes will be given congratulations for their efforts.
