Question: What's more fun than a holiday race?  Answer: Joining in on The Savage Family Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning starting at Bug Light in South Portland!!  This is the 8th annual run of the Turkey Trot to honor Nathan Savage. Nathan was an avid runner, biker, triathlete and family man.  He lost his life to a fatal heart attack on July 2, 2016,  just three weeks before he was set to compete in his first full Ironman event, and just months prior to his 40th birthday. 

THIS YEAR 100% OF PROFITS WILL BE GOING TO THE SOUTH PORTLAND COMMUNITY CENTER/NATHAN SAVAGE MEMORIAL FUND FOR KIDS. 

Over the last SEVEN years, the Turkey Trot has raised OVER $50,000 for the town of South Portland with nearly 100% given to the Nathan Savage Memorial Fund, a scholarship account created by the Savage Family with the South Portland Community Center that gives financial assistance to any child wanting to participate in one of their youth development programs. One of Nathan's dreams was to help kids get off the couch and get out there and be active and healthy and we thought this was the perfect way to honor his dream. 

In 2019, the amazing crew at the SPCC organized the The Tri Like A Savage, a youth triathlon held in honor of Nathan.  It has been an amazing event and funds from the scholarship account helped to make the race accessible to all South Portland kids.   Please join us in the Spring of 2024 for that fun event!
