    On June 28 2013, a cloud to ground lightning sparked what would become the deadliest wildfie on record in Arizona.  The fire claimed more than 8,000 acres and 127 structures in Yarnell, while taking the lives of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighter crew.  The Yarnell Memorial Run was established in 2014 in memory of the 19 and in honor of their families. 

    Yarnell is located 25 miles north of Wickenburg on State Highway 89, and is nestled between Antelope Peak and the Weaver Mountains.  The area is known as Yarnell Hill, boasting an elevaton of 4,800 feet.  It is surrounded by state forest.  Visitors are greeted by Yarnell's appropriate slogan, "Where the Desert Breeze Meets the Mountain Air".  This mountain air is crisp and clean; views are unrestricted on Yarnell Hill, where you can see 10 miles or more!

     

    Please note - beginning with the 2024 event we will no longer have a 19K distance. This is due to the construction that took place along Route 89 last year.

    Virtual Run Details 

    Of course we want you to participate in the Yarnell Memorial Run event locally but we know things come up. So, if you can't join us on race day and still want to run, get the medal and the shirt then you still can! Here is your way to take part in this event no matter where you are! And of course, all prices include shipping! On race week all virtual participants will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your time.

    Please note that all items will be shipped following the event on June 8th.

    Virtual Registrations are restricted to US addresses only. If you reside outside of the US and wish to participate please contact StartLine Racing at info@startlineracing.com

    Age Group Awards for Top Three in all Age Groups in the 10K and 5K distances (Race Day Participants only). Our age groups are the following:

    • 8 & Under, 9 & 10, 11-13, 14-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & Over

    Pre- and Post-Race "Runner's Brunch" (granola bars, fruit, water, Gatorade, etc)

    Chip Timed with Real Time Results and Photos on our Website or Mobile App (on Apple and Google)

    Race Day Information 

    Race Day Check In starts at 5:45am. The live event in Yarnell will be limited to 500 people.

    We accept cash, and credit cards on race day. Checks are no longer accepted.

    • Race day pricing will be: 10K $60, 5K $50, 1.9K Walk $30

    Strollers are welcome but please note the course is a mix of dirt and pavement.

    Leashed pet friendly event.

    We will have a bag drop for this event.

    There will be 4 parking lots available in Yarnell:

    • Start/Finish Line Lot - Yarnell Assembly of God - 17125 W. Fountain Hill Lane, Yarnell (map)Shuttle Parking #1: American Legion Post 79 - 22911 Looka Way (map)
      • Please enter via Lakewood Dr. and Exit via Fountain Hill Lane to keep traffic moving
    • Shuttle Parking #2: Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church - 16455 Tabletop Way (map)
    • Shuttle Parking #3: U-Stowe-It - 21972 AZ-89 (map)

    There will be two 40-Passenger Shuttles, Operating from 6am - 7:30am and from 8:30am until needed

    We run rain or shine. There are no refunds due to weather.

    Packet Pick-Up Opportunities 

    Packet Pick-up is available on Friday, June 7th from 3-6pm at Road Runner Sports in Phoenix (map)

    • Road Runner Sports is located at 7077 E Mayo Blvd, Phoenix, Arizona 85054

    Saturday, June 8th at Yarnell Assembly of God (race location) beginning at 5:45am.
