The Youth Triathlon at The J provides a fun and healthy opportunity to help children stay active this summer. By combining swimming, biking and running in one sport, participants benefit from a well-rounded fitness workout, enhancing their endurance and strength, and having a lot of fun!  This race is open to all fitness levels!

The Midwest Triathlon Youth Championship is open for all youth ages 6 to 14. The series includes three local triathlons, the J Youth Triathlon on June 23, The Youth Triathlon on July 23rd, and JCPRD Kids Triathlon on August 17th.  There is no extra charge to be part of the series. You earn points for every triathlon you participate in and gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in each of the age categories for those with the most points after the JCPRD Kids Triathlons in August. You can register for the series by simply sending an email with the subject line Midwest Youth Triathlon Series, and in the body include your name, age as of December 31, 2024, and gender, to trikctriclub@gmail.com. Additional information about the Series can be found here:http://www.trikc.org/youth-triathlon.

Date: Sunday, June 23rd, 2024

Time: 7:30 a.m.


Location: Jewish Community Center of Kansas City

Address: 5801 West 115th Street, Overland Park, Kansas.

Distances:

Tri for TOTs 

Tri for Tots: Ages 3-5; 25 yard walk/swim, .75 mile bike, .25 mile run.

Short Course: Ages 6-8; 50 yard pool swim, 1.5 mile bike, and .6 mile run.

Intermediate Course: Ages 9-10; 100 meter pool swim, 3 mile bike, and 1 mile run.

Long Course: Ages 11-17: 200 meter pool swim, 6 mile bike, and 2.0 mile run.

Short Course: The short course is just for our 6-8 year olds.  Its a the fifth year for this distance custom for those little ones that are ready to do more then the tot race but not quite as far as the Intermediate distance.  *Do a practice run through using our course map so they are prepared for race day!  Especially on the bike course :)

Age Groups: Individual: 8 and Under(short course); 9-10(Intermediate course); 11-12 (long course); 13-14(long course); 15-17(long course). Relay (relay members ages totaled) 27 and under(Intermediate course) 28 and up (long course). NOTE: Pursuant to USA Triathlon Rules the age of an athlete is his or her age on December 31 of the year of the event.

USA Triathlon (Important): This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All youth participants must be a member of USAT. A membership must be purchased in advance of the race. With the ONE TIME payment, youth triathletes will be eligible to compete in ALL triathlons for the remainder of their annual membership. Chip Timing: The JCC KIDS TRIATHLON will have chip timing. Chips are put on the athletes prior to them entering the pool area by our staff.

Packet Pickup and Race Orientation: Participants and parents are REQUIRED to attend a virtual pre-race orientation session. Packet Pickup is scheduled for Friday June 21st, 2024 between 11:00am and 6:00pm at The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City.  Please enter through the Fitness and Sports entrance.
