Join us on Veterans Day for our second annual 5K. All abilities are encouraged to be with us at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. You can run or walk in honor of our veterans and in support of our men and women who have served our country.
From our founder, Priscilla Sanchez Garcia:
My father, Samuel Sanchez, passed away on Father’s Day, 6/19/22.
On 6/21, I wrote down "veteran’s organization, pick a run and volunteer." These words have inspired me to build on my father’s legacy.
My father was a proud Marine, Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient. After coming home from Vietnam he devoted his time helping our veterans transition from serving our country and into society. He became Coordinator of Veterans affairs where he counseled and advised Veterans of their benefits and opportunities. He also organized and participated in numerous events to help our Veterans. He proudly marched in countless parades, his last march on Memorial Day 2021.
Our event will benefit Homes for the Brave which supports our local Veterans as my father did. I am honored to partner with this organization to provide continued support for those heroes who have served our country! Scroll down to read more about Homes for the Brave and all they do for veterans!
